Our adventure begins in Saigon, where we'll explore famous landmarks, hidden restaurants, and bustling night markets. We'll even experience the city's vibrant street food scene by Vespa, with experienced local drivers guiding us to culinary gems. We'll then journey to the Mekong Delta, where we'll explore cocoa plantations and rural villages by boat and bicycle, staying in a luxurious resort overlooking the river. Cycling through Ben Tre, we'll discover the "Coconut Paradise" and experience the unique lifestyle of the Mekong Delta.

Our journey continues to the Central Highlands, where we'll cycle through coffee plantations, pine tree forests, and rolling hills, experiencing the beauty of the Vietnamese countryside. We'll also visit the historic town of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and have free time to explore its ancient streets and charming atmosphere. Vietnam bicycle tour day by day details  

day 1: Saigon Arrival – Urban Exploration & Riverside Charm

*Chào mừng!* Welcome to Saigon! Your guides will greet you at Tan Son Nhat International Airport and transfer you to our delightful hotel in Saigon's historic riverside district. The afternoon is yours to explore before we reconvene for orientation and a welcome dinner.

day 2: Saigon – Walking Tour & Vespa Street Food Adventure

  • Visiting a craft brewery
After breakfast, we'll explore Saigon's colorful streets and markets on foot. Our tour includes the Saigon Opera House, Ben Thanh Market, Maison Marou chocolate shops, and the antique shops on Le Cong Kieu Street. We'll recharge with delicious regional cuisine at SH Garden, a hidden restaurant atop an old apartment building. After some downtime at the hotel, we'll embark on a vintage Vespa scooter adventure to explore Saigon's bustling nighttime street food scene. Experienced local drivers will whisk us away to various food stops, culminating at one of Saigon's craft breweries (no self-drive option).

day 3: Mekong Delta – Bike & Boat Exploration

We'll transfer about two hours to The Island Lodge in the Mekong Delta. Perhaps a dip in the pool before checking in. After lunch, we'll explore cocoa plantations and rural villages by boat and bicycle.

day 4: Ben Tre – Cycling the Coconut Paradise

  • Exploring the Coconut Jungle
This exclusive bike trek explores the Vietnamese countryside life of Ben Tre province. We'll use local ferries to cross the Mekong River to and from Unicorn Island. We'll discover the intricate organization of the Coconut Jungle, also known as the Coconut Paradise.
Ride: 19 mi / 30 km, Land: flat & small hills

day 5: Pleiku – Flight to the Highlands
  • Free time in the Mekong Delta
  • Flight to Pleiku
Enjoy a free and easy morning. At noon, we'll check out and transfer to the airport for our flight to Pleiku in the Central Highlands. Upon arrival, we'll transfer to our hotel in the city center.

day 6: Pleiku & Kon Tum – Coffee, Tea & Highland Charm
  • Cycling to Bien Ho Lake
  • Exploring coffee and tea plantations
  • Staying at Hnam Chang Ngah
After breakfast, we'll cycle out of Pleiku towards Bien Ho Lake, passing coffee plantations, tea hills, and pine forests. We'll have lunch en route and reach Kon Tum in the afternoon. Kon Tum is a small highland town known from the war era. Our hotel tonight is Hnam Chang Ngah, a development center for young adults from rural ethnic minorities.

day 7: Kon Tum & Phuoc Son – Mountain Valleys & Ho Chi Minh Trail

  • Riding sections of the Ho Chi Minh Trail
  • Visiting hill tribe villages
After breakfast, we'll enjoy a full day of riding through rolling hills and stunning scenery. We'll transfer out of Kon Tum City, passing through mountain valleys and thick forests adjacent to national parkland. The route includes sections of the famed Ho Chi Minh Trail. Hill tribe villages dot the landscape, and we'll stop for lunch at one. After lunch, we'll continue riding until sunset and then transfer to Phuoc Son, overnighting at a local guesthouse.

Eat: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

day 8: Phuoc Son & Hoi An – Coastal Bound
  • Cycling through mountain landscapes
  • Transfer to the coast
  • Cycling to Hoi An
  • Farewell dinner
After breakfast, we'll enjoy our last full day of cycling. We'll cycle uphill and downhill through the mountains, passing green hills, jungles, and sparse villages. We'll enjoy rolling hills and lush scenery as we leave Phuoc Son. Support vans will be available. We'll have lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, we'll transfer toward the coast, then cycle the leisure path along the sea to our hotel in Hoi An. We'll check in and rest before our farewell dinner.

day 9: Hoi An – Free Time

Getting there

The South Vietnam Cycle & Cuisine meets at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Ci Minh, Vietnam and ends at Da Nang International Airport in Danang, Vietnam

Guests should plan their flights to arrive in Ho Chi Minh before 12:00 (noon) on Day 1 of the tour and their departing flights after 10:00 (10 am) on Day 10.
