We'll warm up with a leisurely ride along tranquil canals before settling into our boutique hotel in Uthai Thani, a former school with a charming history. The following days will be filled with scenic rides through expansive rice paddies, visits to striking karst formations like Khao Nor and Khao Keaw, and the chance to witness the spectacular evening flight of tens of thousands of bats.

We'll explore the ancient ruins of Kamphaeng Phet, once a powerful kingdom, and delve into the rich history of Sukhothai, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You'll have a free day to discover Sukhothai's wonders at your own pace, perhaps joining a guided tour of the most significant temples and royal houses. As we continue our journey, we'll cycle through diverse landscapes, from vast rice paddies to forested hills, encountering charming villages and ornate temples along the way. Our adventure culminates in Chiang Mai, where we'll celebrate our journey with a final riverside dinner. day 1: Bangkok to Uthai Thani – Markets, Canals & Country Charm

Our adventure begins! Meet your guides in the hotel lobby, and then we'll escape the city bustle with a shuttle to the rural north. Our first stop is the 100-year-old Sam Chuk market, a vibrant scene of historic wooden shophouses stretching for several blocks. Here, we'll hop on our e-bikes for a warm-up ride along the small rivers and khlongs (canals) that nourish this agricultural heartland. Tonight, we'll stay in a unique boutique hotel in Uthai Thani, a former private school built 70 years ago, exuding a sense of history and charm.

day 2: Khao Nor & Khao Keaw – Karst Mountains & Bat Spectacle

Today's e-bike tour takes us through a tapestry of rice paddies and tapioca farms, dotted with charming villages, colorful Buddhist wats (temples), small local markets, and family-run eateries. Our destination is the imposing karst formations of Khao Nor and Khao Keaw, rising like monoliths from the flat agricultural landscape. The temples at their base are home to troops of playful monkeys, but the real spectacle awaits us this evening: thousands of bats pouring out of caves high in the cliffs.

day 3: Kamphaeng Phet – River Rides & Tapioca Fields

We'll wake up to beautiful views of the karst mountains from our hotel nestled in the rice paddies. After saying farewell to the monoliths, we'll join the Mae Ping River, flowing down from Chiang Mai and beyond. Our e-bike tour today mixes riverside cycling with rides through vast tapioca fields (used to make Asia's favorite flavoring, MSG). Our destination is Kamphaeng Phet, once a vassal kingdom of Sukhothai some 700 years ago. Dinner tonight will be at a local eatery in the night market, whose owner has been cooking for our groups for over 30 years.

day 4: Sukhothai – Ancient Ruins & Sugar Palm Treats

After breakfast, our e-bike tour explores the 700-year-old ruins of Kamphaeng Phet, starting with a group in the city center. We'll then venture into the forest park, where numerous temple ruins are scattered along the tree-lined roads. We'll cycle through an area known for its marble carving and a beautiful temple with a reflecting pond. We'll also stop at a small house to see how locals make traditional sugar candies from sugar palm fruit (if in season). Our hotel for the next two nights is in Mueang Kao, the small village just outside Sukhothai Historical Park.

day 5: Sukhothai – A Day of Discovery

Today is yours to explore Sukhothai at your leisure. If you'd like, your guide can lead a morning e-bike tour of the park, highlighting the most significant temples and royal residences. There's plenty more to see if you want to continue into the afternoon, or you can relax by the pool, wander around the village, or visit the National Museum.

day 6: Thung Saliam – Rice Paddies & Forest Temples

After breakfast, we'll say goodbye to those continuing on the Bangkok to Sukhothai tour. Our e-bikes will take us north. Leaving the city gates, we'll once again ride through expansive rice paddies before the landscape gradually transitions to forests and scenic karst mountains rising in the background. Reaching the small town of Thung Saliam, we'll explore Wat Phiphat Mongkhon, with its ornate temples and teak buildings. Perhaps you can try your hand at making the gongs sing!

day 7: Li to Chiang Mai – Mountain Views & Riverside Dining

Our final day of cycling begins with a rewarding climb over the hills we glimpsed yesterday. With the e-bike assist, the hills pass quickly, and a shrine at the top is home to numerous (and safely penned) wild pigs. Passing the market town of Thoen, we'll cycle through more hills and then enjoy a quiet rural ride to the small town of Li. From there, we'll shuttle to Chiang Mai, where we'll celebrate our journey with a final (and perhaps the best) Thai meal at a quiet riverside restaurant your guides know about.

Getting there

The Bangkok to Chiang Mai eBike Tour meets at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangko0k and ends at Chiang Mai International Airport in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Guests should plan their flights to arrive in Bangkok before 14:00 (2 pm) on Day 1 of the tour and their departing flights after 10:00 (10 am) on Day 8.

Travel Tip: Buying your domestic flight from Chiang Mai to Bangkok separately from your international flight to Thailand is often a better value. But do leave sufficient time between flights (3 hours suggested).
